Criteria for Services
Ohio does not mandate services for gifted students. Each district determines what services, if any, will be provided. Procedures are in place to ensure equal access to services for all identified students.
Current Gifted Services
Grades 2–4
Gifted services are provided in grades 2 through 4 for students identified in superior cognitive, creativity, reading, and/or math. Classroom teachers work in partnership with gifted-certified staff to ensure the implementation of differentiation strategies.
Grades 5–8
Gifted services are provided in grades 5–8 in superior cognitive, creativity, reading, and/or math through advanced learning opportunities as well as with teachers who work in partnership with gifted-certified staff.
Grades 9–12
Gifted services are provided in grades 9–12 through course offerings including: Honors, Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement, the Arts, College Credit Plus, and online opportunities.
