Walker and Faircrest Students to End School Year Early

We have an exciting summer ahead of us as we move our 6-8th grade classes into our new Canton South Middle School and our preschool through grade 5 classes into the renovated Faircrest Memorial Elementary School.   To help us prepare for the transitions, we will be ending the school year on Tuesday, May 24th for students at Walker Elementary School and Faircrest Memorial Middle School.  Canton South students will remain in session as scheduled through Thursday, May 26th.  Ending a few days early at Walker and Faircrest will provide time for our staff to pack up their classrooms and prepare for the moves.

What is ENGAGE Ohio?

Ohio’s Department of Education has partnered with Graduation Alliance to provide an extra layer of support for K-12 students and their families to boost school engagement and academic success during the school year.

Students who choose to participate in the program will be assigned an Academic Success Coach who will answer questions, connect them with resources, and develop a plan to help the student stay on track and engaged with their schooling.

Covid Reporting Update
On March 10, 2022, the Ohio Department of Health updated the requirements for K-12 schools that were ordered in September of 2020.  As a result, schools now only must report positive results for tests performed by the school.

Although the reporting standards have been rescinded, the quarantine and isolation measures set forth in the Mask to Stay, Test to Play protocols remain in effect.  If a staff or student tests positive for COVID -19 they are asked to complete the COVID Reporting form.   A member of our nursing staff will follow up with a phone call of date guidelines for returning to school/work.
