Open Enrollment - Out of District

Open Enrollment 2026-2027 School Year

Applications are received on a first-come, first-served basis in April of every year. No applications are accepted after April 30th. Applications for grades 1-12 are reviewed in May and are accepted based on class size and ability to fulfill the student's special needs if required.  Kindergarten applications are reviewed in August.

Note:

  • You must create a google account (if you don't already have one) to upload the required documents.

  • If you are on this page prior to 8am you must refresh the page for the link to appear. 

Applications can be submitted ONLINE ONLY for the 2026-2027 school year.  The district will begin accepting online applications on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 8:00 am.

Please have available to upload with your online application:

  • A photo ID

  • Proof of residency (see below for acceptable proofs of residency)

  • Current Student IEP and ETR  (if applicable)

  • Current court paperwork referring to custody/guardianship (if applicable)

ACCEPTABLE PROOF OF RESIDENCY DOCUMENTS

Utilities: Electric, Gas, Water, Sewer, Cable/Internet. The utility bill must show matching service and mailing address in the name of the Parent/Guardian.

Other Acceptable Documents: Monthly mortgage statement, lease/rental agreement (signed), pay stub, insurance statement, car payment statement, government agency letters, etc. with parent’s name and address.

May 5, 2026 Renewal Levy

At its regular meeting on December 15, 2025, the Canton Local School District Board of Education approved a Resolution Declaring it Necessary to Levy a Renewal Tax in Excess of the Ten-Mill Limitation, as presented in Exhibit TB-1.

This action authorizes the district to proceed with the next steps related to the renewal levy in accordance with Ohio law.

Welcome New Kindergarten Students

Faircrest Memorial Elementary School will host “May K Day,” a special event dedicated to preparing children and parents for kindergarten. This event is designed for children who will be five years old on or before August 18, 2026, and reside within the district. 

Event Details: Date: Friday, May 1, 2026
Location: Faircrest Elementary
Time: Two sessions at 9:00 am and 1:15 pm 

What to Expect: 

• Interactive Kindergarten Experience: Children will engage in kindergarten activities with a teacher. 

• Parent Information Session: Parents will learn about kindergarten expectations and how to prepare their child. 

• Nurse Availability: A nurse will be present for health-related queries. 

• KRA Testing Sign-Up: Sign up for the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) testing in August. 

• Light Refreshments: Enjoy snacks and mingle with other families. 

Who Should Attend: 

May K Day is open to new kindergarten families and Wildcat preschool students moving on to kindergarten.
