Building Resilience in Kids

Canton Local’s BRIK Initiative brings families, schools, and the community together to make a few key changes that help protect kids and build their real-world skills: Wait Until 8th – Delay giving kids smartphones until high school. 16 to Screen – No social media until age 16. Phone Down, Minds Up – Create phone-free school days. Let Me Grow – Encourage childhood independence through more unstructured play and real-life experiences.

Food Resources for Families

Unexpected days at home can create added strain for families. If your family could use additional food support, help is available in our community.

In addition to the resources at go to cantonlocal.org/fss, the following local partners are available:

North Industry Christian Church
Food pantry assistance is available. Please call 330-484-2061 to make arrangements.

Peace Lutheran Church
Emergency food assistance is available. Please call 330-484-4400 to make arrangements.
Food resources will also be available on Wednesday, February 4, from 9:30–11:00 a.m. Individuals are welcome to stop by the church during that time. Please use the north rear entrance and ring the doorbell.

February Board of Education Meeting

The Canton Local Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the Canton South High School Community Room. The meeting is open to the public; attendees are asked to use door #2.

Wildcat Preschool Preview

Curious about Wildcat Preschool? Join us for an informal Wildcat Preschool Preview on Thursday, February 12, between 5:30 and 7:00 PM at Faircrest Memorial Elementary School.

This is a great opportunity for families to explore our classrooms, meet our caring preschool staff, and learn more about what makes Wildcat Preschool special — all in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Benefits of Wildcat Preschool include:

  • Meals included
  • Transportation provided

Wildcat Preschool serves children living in the Canton Local School District and offers a sliding tuition scale, with free programming available for eligible children based on disability and state income guidelines.

May 5, 2026 Renewal Levy

At its regular meeting on December 15, 2025, the Canton Local School District Board of Education approved a Resolution Declaring it Necessary to Levy a Renewal Tax in Excess of the Ten-Mill Limitation, as presented in Exhibit TB-1.

This action authorizes the district to proceed with the next steps related to the renewal levy in accordance with Ohio law.
