This scholarship is rooted in the ideals of Josette Beddell, who lost her battle with breast cancer but lived her life working to better the community she lived in. The foundation will award a $500 renewable scholarship to a Stark County senior who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college in the fall of 2018. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and have a parent/guardian with or recovering from breast cancer. Deadline June 1, 2018

All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, commitment to pursue career or technical certification/degree, and a desire to contribute to society.
• Have completed high school or earned a high school equivalency degree by Spring 2018
• Will be enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2018
• Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited nonprofit post-secondary institution in the United States
• Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
• Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
• Be under the age of 30
• Be a United States citizen

Graduating high school seniors whose parents or legal guardians are a member of one of the local unions affiliated and in good standing with the Hall of Fame Central Labor Council, AFLCIO are eligible for one of the four, $500.00 Hall of Fame Central Labor Council, AFLCIO/American Income Life scholarships.
The deadline for requesting and returning the completed application is Friday, June 22, 2018. Any requests or returned applications after that date will not be accepted.

This renewable scholarship will range in amount from $1500-$4700 per academic year. Students who wish to pursue an associate or bachelor degree in a STEMM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medicine) are eligible to apply for scholarships from one of 45 Ohio colleges, universities, or technical schools.
