This year, Canton Local families who are interested in holiday help (Thanksgiving and Christmas) must complete the form linked below. Ann-Margaret Lambo, family support specialist, will be in touch with families to advise of next steps.

Family Support Specialists Provide Social-Emotional Assistance

Canton Local has partnered with the United Way of Stark County to provide a Family Support Specialist (FSS) to work alongside school iCARE teams.  The iCARE team collaborates to address challenges facing students and their families and helps them overcome barriers to learning by connecting family, school, and community. iCARE teams provide clothing, community agency referrals, food, health and hygiene products, holiday assistance, mentoring of parents and students, shelter, and many other social and emotional supports.

Bridge Point & The Helping Hands Network of Waynesburg has joined forces with the Canton South Rotary to provide new, warm winter coats, hats, gloves and blankets for Canton South, East Canton and Sandy Valley area children through Keeping Kids Warm. The link is now open

Wildcats Helping Wildcats - For Canton Local residents, this fund helps families in times of emergency situations & extreme need.

Keeping Kids Warm -  Bridge Point has joined forces with the Canton South Rotary to provide new, warm winter coats, hats, gloves and blankets for Canton South, East Canton and Sandy Valley area children through Keeping Kids Warm.

Christmas Mart - Each year, over 175 local children receive Christmas gifts of new clothing & toys.

NAMI (National Alliance On Mental Illness) 

Is now offering their Basics Class in an on-line format. If you have families that may benefit from this information and support but are not able to attend a 6-week class, this is a great opportunity you could share with them.

NAMI Basics OnDemand

NAMI Basics OnDemand is a free, six-session online education program for parents, caregivers and other families who provide care for youth aged 22 or younger who are experiencing mental health symptoms. NAMI Basics OnDemand is an adaptation of the in-person course offered in 43 states by NAMI affiliates.

Group Triple P meets two hours a week for eight weeks

Group Triple P is an opportunity for parents to join together to hear each other's stories and support one another on their parenting journeys. Parenting isn’t easy, it is nice to hear from others while learning numerous strategies you can choose to try at home. You will create goals for your own family and find the strategies that best fit your needs.  Click for details
