New Mileage Rate
The IRS has approved a new mileage rate, effective for calendar year 2017, of $0.535 per mile, down from $0.54 per mile for 2016. Please use the new rate for any mileage submitted for reimbursement in 2017.
If you are looking to losing some of that holiday weight or wanting to get back in shape this is a great way to start. Starting in January each building will be competing against each other to find who has the fittest building. Also, there will be individual winners for a few categories.
Remember these few tips when first getting started. First, take it slow. Start the program with a gradual approach to exercising. Remember it takes 21 to 28 days to adapt to a stress. Next, work with a partner to get you through those tough times. Have a goal in mind, something you want to achieve that is reasonable. Finally, have a consistent time of the day booked for you to get out and exercise.
One change from the registration form: please send your registration and payment to Wendy at the Administration Center.
Congratulations Canton Local Teacher and Rookie of the Year for 2016!
Teacher of the Year - Katie Kreitzer
Spend a couple of minutes talking to Katie about CL kids and families, her daily work with her partner teacher, Mrs. Michelle Pedone, and her curriculum team leadership with Mrs. Jacki Cain and Mrs. Sherry Johnson, and one would get a impressive picture of a teacher who in addition to being a busy mom to two elementary children, gives her all to making her students, her classroom, and her school a wonderful place for student learning. Her expectations for self, colleagues, and students are high - and she demonstrates the passion, compassion, organization, flexibility and 'can do' attitude every day - all day. A wise voice, she is an ambassador of 'hope' and obviously is a valuable staff member!
Rookie of the Year - Jody Graham
Jody is currently in her 3rd year of teaching in our Special Education Department. During her tenure Jody has gone above and beyond with her students. She has been on wrap around teams, made numerous parent visits, and is always communicating with her students guardians. She stays after school and meets before school with students to give individual help, she has developed many student specific lessons, and has continually tried a variety of teaching methods to make sure that the students have the opportunity to learn in the method that is best for them. This year she has advanced the work/community involvement that our MH students, so that each student gets as much of a diversified opportunity as possible
