Please review these guidelines with your student prior to school. This will help familiarize you and your student with the expectations we have at Canton South High School.
A quick summary of our dress code is as follows:
• Shorts and skirts must be mid-thigh or longer
• Pants may not have holes above the knees
• Yoga pants are not allowed unless worn under a skirt or shorts that meet dress code requirements
• Cell phones must be kept out off and out of sight
• Pajama bottoms are not permissible
Our attendance policy at Canton South is as follows:
Students are expected to be in class, on time, every day. Class attendance is vital to the learning process of our students. School attendance is also mandatory through the laws of the State of Ohio. If these laws are not followed, the student could have truancy charges filed with the Stark County Court System.
If your student is absent from school, please notify the attendance office by phone (330-484-8005) or by a written note (turned into the Attendance Office). We are required by the state of Ohio to record and maintain absence records and excuses for any student absences.
We also request that when your student returns to school from a medical/dental appointment that they please turn in a medical note from the doctor. This note allows us to mark the absence excused. When your student arrives to school after the 7:45am start of school or leaves school before the 2:30pm end of school, they must stop into the attendance office to sign in/out.
When a student is late to school, consequences will begin after the third tardy. If the student continues to be late to school, the administration does have the right to recommend further consequences.
