The Canton Local School District, home of the Wildcats, is located in
southern Stark County. Approximately 2300 students are enrolled in three
schools: H.R. Walker Elementary School (Grades K-4), Faircrest Memorial
Middle School (Grades 5-8) and Canton South High School (Grades 9-12)
which is also the hub for South Stark Career Academy. Prairie College
serves Canton Local’s preschool population as well as other Stark County
programs designed to meet specialized needs of students.
At Canton Local Schools we have the privilege of providing rich learning
experiences for the students in our community to ensure that they reach our

Our staff has worked hard to ensure that students have opportunities to practice serving others. Our students have served other by stocking food pantries, raising funds for various service organizations, writing letters and sending packages to service-men and women, hosting the Senior Citizens’ Prom, honoring our Veterans at special events, donating items for others at the Christmas Mart and the Mega Event, tutoring, mentoring and many other acts of service.
In alternating years in the spring the school and community comes together for our Canton Local Mega Event, a very special opportunity for our community to come together for a day of family fun. Staff, students and community members donated items and worked hard to make this day very special. We appreciate the support of our community. This event is one of the many ways that the school and community work together to support the needs of programs for our students.
