Good afternoon Wildcat Families,
Our efforts to keep students in school for in-person learning continue to pay off as we see fewer students and staff members required to stay home due to positive reported COVID tests and subsequent contact tracing.
As we review our three indicators:
We have had 72 positive cases this school year; 27 since the mask mandated was fully in effect on September 9
327 students or staff members have been saved from quarantine by wearing a mask or being vaccinated
Our local hospitals shared that there are 142 COVID patients admitted in Stark County - 42 in ICU and 22 on ventilators.
Looking at our local data and results, we will continue to require face masks for all students and staff on our buses and inside our buildings beyond September 30 and until further notice.
We will continue to reassess our face mask policy by meeting with health officials, Stark County COVID task force, Stark County Health Department, and follow developments at our local hospitals. We hope to be able to move to a mask-optional policy at some point this school year.
Again, the decision to wear face coverings gives Canton Local the best opportunity to keep students in their classrooms and participating in regular school activities.
Thank you for working with us towards the common goal of in-person learning for our students. I appreciate your time and hope you have a great weekend. Go Wildcats!
